Wk 3 Disscussion
2. I think that the e-mail is asking to much information. Students do not need to place all of their personal info on the web. The teacher can get it somewhere else. The students do need to understand how to use the different web sites, but to much detail can get them into trouble. The last thing I would ever want is for my student to be in a harmful situation.
3. I would change the lesson by providing my own examples. I would show them some extra web sites that I found useful. The students could provide me with ones that they found as well. I would write all of our information on the board and we would go from there. The students know so much about technology and it can be scary at times. I would make sure that we are using the computer in a professional manner. They will learn a great deal from the new technologies, but we have to be safe as we use it from day to day.

Your correct, the students should never be left unsupervised in the computer lab. It is to easy for them to come across inappropriate sites. Not only that, students are to find websites for virtual reality interviews, they may not realize the difference between that and speaking with a real person, and instead may come across a child predator. Then the teacher allows all the childs personal information to be posted on an email. If this was my childs teacher, I would become irate.
ReplyDeleteI would do the same with finding websites that were safe for the children to utilize in order to maintain a safe environment. It is important to allow students to become familiar with technology but protect them.
Good job, see you Tuesday.
